Pregnant soldiers affect readiness

Females should be encouraged to serve in the military but we should also be realistic about what that means.

Recently Fox News host Tucker Carlson lambasted the military for putting virtue signaling over national security. This of course allowed general officers and senior enlisted advisors to go on social media and preen and strut about how woke they are without addressing his actual critique about their critical failings in doing their actual jobs. Carlson said nothing wrong and has nothing to apologize for.

I think the greatest thing was learning that the USMC senior enlisted advisor for Space Command, says he doesn’t watch the news. He calls it, “drama TV.” So, we have some indignantly ignorant buffoon co-leading the most relevant and high priority commands in the military but he doesn’t watch the news. He’s either lying or stupid. I think that’s fine since he just gets his talking points from the political commissars and the DNC directly. That said let’s look at the rest of the story which focused on the Air Force acquiring pregnancy flight suits, which makes no sense because you are prohibited from conducting those duties while on a pregnancy profile. Anyways. (EDIT: early version stated SGM was SEA for Cyber Command. He is the SEA for Space Command).

USMC just made it official: females get 12 months off where they don’t have to deploy, not even to training events, and don’t have to meet any fitness standards. I’m not even going to argue that they don’t need it. Bearing children is hard on the body and that’s probably about the right amount of time. I’m not a doctor but I can do simple addition.

On average females makeup 15% of the military. About 14.4 active duty and 17.9 in the Reserve and National Guard. So, we’ll just say 15%.

Let me caveat this by saying I support the ability of anyone to serve in the military that can meet the standards and requirements. I don't care about your race, your gender, your sexual preference. Don't give a shit. Can you show up and do the work?

There’s just one problem with the she woman, man-hater club: Women have one special dispensation for not showing up and being able to do the work. And it’s an important biological imperative, especially for young women that they should participate in without scorn or ridicule. Really, it’s important for them and the human race.

Let's explore the math of the pregnant soldier on an initial enlistment. Once a soldier is pregnant they go on a pregnancy profile. They are not deployable. They cannot even go on mission training exercises. This lasts nine months, of course. Which is fine I don't want someone having a miscarriage in the middle of a training event. It's a dumb reason to kill a baby.

So 9 (partum)+12 (postpartum) = 21 months where a soldier is basically not an asset that can be relied upon for training and conducting the military mission they are assigned at 100 percent capability. An initial enlistment is 48 months minus average 6 months for initial entry training. That’s about 42 months where a soldier is with their unit.

If a soldier gets pregnant they are out for 21 months which means they can spend 50% of their enlistment unable to perform all the functions of their job. Now, this isn’t a combat injury or a job-related injury that we would expect the military to make allowances for in their actuarial as anomalous and preventable events. This is a standard natural life function of a female of the human species. Call me old-fashioned but I think taxpayers who pay for the training should have a say in whether or not we pay for a soldier to only be fully combat-ready for 50% of their initial enlistment. They should at least be informed of what the reality is. I hope they don’t think we have women 8 months pregnant out breaking track on an M1 tank in the middle of muddy bog in Germany.

With females in combat arms, this becomes more of an issue. In combat elements, training from individual to collective tasks has a life and death component. Building a cohesive team for a constant state of readiness since as the joint concept for the continuum of operations states, we are always at some level of competition with near-peer adversaries and threats. All units need to be at the highest state of readiness they can obtain for their cycle. You now have 15 percent of your formation that can disappear for 21 months at any moment.

Let’s think about the female soldier. While that soldier is medically prohibited from participating in training and moved to an administrative role they are missing important developmental steps that will leave them behind in their career fields. Honestly, that isn’t fair to them. When I say prohibited, a commander cannot make a soldier violate a medically valid profile. First, it’s dangerous and unhealthy. Second, it’s a violation of maintaining the health and welfare of your soldiers and you should be fired if you do it. I would do everything to make sure they can participate as much as possible but, you may not know this by the way the military has been transformed by the wokerati, a lot of what the military does is dangerous and exposes us to hazards that may not be appropriate for a women and fetus.

Female service members should be able to participate in the natural proclivity for the procreation of the species. But life is about choices. If you choose to have a baby, the big green machine moves on. In a year your unit will conduct one, maybe two large collective training events up the brigade level. In 21 months they will conduct those training events, the male peers will receive full advantage of the training, and the unit will likely make a rotation to some overseas mission and return just in time for the soldier to exit the service. After all, the Soldier for Life- Transition Assistance Program for exiting the Army starts 6 months to a year from the ETS date.

There are other concerns brought about by the ruling of the Wokerati and Boomer GOs. With equity being the new Guidestone of the Woke DoD and seeing how the time off during pregnancy is damaging to female career progression: in the name of equity should we stop all military training while females are pregnant to ensure they receive the same training and career progression? Because that has been one complaint, that females who choose to have children have a stifled career.

Another point, I know we have moved to equity (separate but equal) away from equality (equal) but where’s the equality? We are all supposed to be equal. Do men get a 12 month grace period from not having to deploy or meet fitness standards at any point in their service? I know they don’t bear children. Haha. Just kidding. I have it on good authority that men can have babies now and menstruate. I hope the WokeDoD has prepared a partum and post partum policy for male soldiers who identify as pregnant females. They opened this box they should have to deal with all the absurdities of it.

And before anyone gets angry about any of my reasonable objections, I identified as female while writing this. Checkmate, bigots.
